Industrial solar farms endanger our land, disrupt wildlife habitats, strain natural resources, degrade soil and water quality, and noticeably blight the rural character and lifestyle of our community.
Industrial solar farms raise concerns about long-term impacts, such as toxic panel chemicals, water contamination, heat island effects, glare hazards, fire risk, and limited emergency response access.
There are two main ways YOU can help us ensure that St. Croix County remains safe from these harmful effects. Donating will help us advocate to the PSC. Your time can help us spread the message.
Donating will help us in many ways, including our goal to raise enough money to formally intervene in the Wisconsin Public Service Commission’s review of the massive 5,000-acre King Transmission/Ten Mile Creek industrial solar boondoggle here in St. Croix County. Intervening will help us to advocate to stop the project, and–if that’s not possible–attempt to mitigate the harmful impacts to our health, safety, and our environment.
We are a nonpartisan St. Croix County based non-profit (tax exempt status pending) founded and run solely by a force of dedicated and unpaid volunteer residents of St. Croix County.
Our mission is to study, educate and mitigate the many negative potential health, safety, environmental and economic impacts of large scale industrial solar and wind projects that are being proposed for St. Croix County, Wisconsin.
In order to intervene, we need to raise $50K-100$K to retain legal counsel BEFORE Xcel files their application with the WIPSC which is expected in the summer or fall of 2025
Intervening in the WIPSC’s review of the proposed 5000-acre industrial solar complex is critical as it will give us legal party status allowing us to introduce evidence, scrutinize and challenge evidence/witnesses and allow us to be a formal voice for the citizens of St. Croix County
We want the King Transmission/Ten Mile Creek project to be stopped and if it can’t be stopped, we want to protect our health, safety, environment and property values by arguing for other important relief which may include;
-Appropriate setbacks/buffers from residential housing to protect the health and safety of residents
-Appropriate setbacks/buffers from sensitive wildlife and other sensitive natural areas
-Requirements to mitigate run-off pollution of drinking water wells, lakes, rivers, streams, ponds and other bodies of water
We also aim to educate and raise awareness of the many negative impacts of industrial solar and wind projects
Our education and awareness initiatives may include;
-Holding and participating in community events and community forums
-Engaging in door knocking campaigns to have one on one discussions with the community
-Creation and maintenance of our website as well as social media pages to provide critical information to the community and in the case of our social media sites, a forum for community dialogue, awareness and the exchange of ideas
-Creating, posting and handing out of informational flyers that highlight concerns with large scale industrial solar and wind projects
Identifying and studying scholarly publications, articles and other publications that discuss the health, safety, environmental and economic impacts and concerns with large scale industrial solar and wind projects
Our goal is to raise enough money to retain legal counsel to fight Xcel Energy’s industrial solar project during the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (PSC) during its application review process.
Donate NowWe are in need of help door-knocking, event planning, marketing, PR, fundraising, and others as leaders and boots on the ground. For people who have experience in running non-profits, we would love your help!
Act Now!Many communities discover that “temporary” solar farms result in land being removed from agricultural use permanently — or returned in a degraded state that’s costly to fix.
Some solar panels contain heavy metals like cadmium, lead, or other toxic materials. If panels break down or are improperly decommissioned, these can leach into the soil or water.
Promises to restore the land often disappear once profits are made, leaving communities stuck with toxic waste and unusable, damaged soil, toxic debris, compacted earth, polluted runoff, and land too broken to farm again.

Help us educate and inform the surrounding communities of the detrimental impacts industrial-scale solar and wind projects will have on our communities. Please share our mission with your friends and neighbors to keep St. Croix County’s environment green and pristine for future generations.
